Lakshmi
Lakshmi learned new skills at workshops supported by Friends of India. Lakshmi’s husband is a day labourer and is never assured of work.
After meeting with an organizer from one of Friends of India’s local partners, Lakshmi learned how to make washing and cleaning items that she could sell and then organized a self-help group in her own village. A loan of 1,000 rupees to each member of the self-help group helped Lakshmi to buy the raw materials for making detergents and cleaning products.
Now Lakshmi takes pride in her regular income and the important contribution she makes to meeting her family’s needs.
