Supporting education and opportunity at the grass roots

Our partners

Friends of India works in close partnership with local organizations in Tamil Nadu to carry out its mission. Our partners include:

  • Society for the Upliftment of the Economically Backward (SUEB)
We have worked with SUEB to establish social education, vocational training and microfinance opportunities in poor communities. Jointly we currently support programs to help the communities of Arani and Medavakkam. More on SUEB: www.suebmf.org.

  • Coastal and Rural Development Trust (CARDT)
We work in the coastal village of Kovalam with CARDT, a small community based non-profit. Together, we have worked to expand basic education for children and provide vocational training and income generation opportunities to women.

  • Anbumalar Social Service Vision (ASSV)
We have worked in partnership with ASSV in poor communities outside of Chennai. With ASSV and Don du Choeur we have helped to establish a special school for children with severe learning disabilities.

  • Tamil Nadu Foundation (TNF)
We have worked with the TNF to provide education and vocational training to underprivileged communities. We also run our Klean Kitchens for Kids program in partnership with TNF. More on TNF: www.tnfusa.org.
